What it does

Automatic numbering

Every new issue is stamped with the next number in its project sequence — no manual step, assigned the moment the issue is created.

Per-project format

Set a prefix, a zero-padding width, and an enable toggle independently for each project (e.g. PROJ-0001, INV-00042).

Read-only to users

The number is written by the app and shown as a read-only field — users cannot edit it, it is assigned once, and it is never reused.

Gap-free by design

Numbers are allocated without gaps. In the rare high-contention case the app omits a number rather than ever duplicating one.
